He started his radioamateur carreer at the age of 14 in the local Radio Club HA3KNA. He got his licence HA3NS in 1972. During his military service (1973-74) he was active member of radioclub HA8KUN. During his studies (1974-77) he established a radioclub with his student mates and they worked with HA9KPU callsign. After graduating as engineer he went back to Szekszárd and became the leader of Radioclub HA3KNA. He was very active HF, HST and ARDF contester and also liked hunting DXs, high speed CW and collecting awards. He spent lot of time in his Radioclub and under his leadership numerous young people became radioamateur. He was very successful in high speed telegraphy (HST) and ARDFcompetitions and gained many medals in national and international championships. In 1991 he won bronze medal in European HST Championship and in 1998 silver medal in ARDF World Championship. Between 1995-1999 he served as transmitting referee in the International Jury of HST championships. He had a licenced radioamateur family: his XYL HG3FTS, his son HA3VA and his daughter HA3VW.
